Mixing and recording are 20% of the equation, performance is 80%. I’m pretty sure these sessions were done with only 3 or 4 mics, I’ll look into it. For aspiring drummers, listen to how the bass drum dynamics and sound change depending on the hit, creating a repeating pattern. Also, notice the slight tempo changes and how they help create an enormous groove - further proof that drum editing can be bad…
