Studio Recording Rates
Studio recording rates, at least according to my current observation, seem to be drastically changing right now. What I can say is that it’s not that great for the studio market, but seems to be working out really well for the musician. With studio recording rates on the decline, people like Christian and myself can offer our services at a much better price that we could’ve 10 years ago. As a matter of fact, what would’ve cost the major label musician $100,000 in the 90’s seems to now costs about a tenth of that.
Make no bones about it, the decline in studio recording rates and recording budgets has killed many beautiful and historic recording studios (Ocean Way and Sony come to mind) , but it has also fueled a revolution in the art.
While quality mixing and recording still requires some investment, it seems to be much more realistic, affording the unsigned talent to rise up and compete with larger budgeted major label funded acts.
Again, just an observation, but something to consider when planning your next recording project. Keep in mind, the new recording revolution helps us help you as well – talk to us about your project and I’ll tell you how. In fact, I’ll be more than happy to help you plan out your next recording project, no matter where you are in the world.
