As you likely know, Christian and I do a good amount of recording here at studios in San Diego, and after being asked by others, I thought I’d write a bit about different spots around town.

While reading this, please keep in mind that we’re both freelance engineers, so regardless of which San Diego recording studio you might be partial to, check out some of the work we’ve done and contact us to help you with your project. Our personal relationships with the studio owners as well as knowledge about the facilities can really be of benefit. Although Christian is in higher demand than myself and not as readily available for local projects, we’re both always on the lookout for cool artists to get involved with – so ask us about how we can help you and your project.

San Diego Recording Studios: The Roundup

Obviously Christian and I are somewhat partial. He’s been there for many years and is close friends with the owner (they’re in a band together). That being said, in terms of vibe and a medium sized room, it would be hard to find a recording studio in San Diego that compares. They have a new mastering facility as well. Popular large room. Wood, wood wood. Super comfortable control room with great outboard and an API console. Christian recorded drums there recently. Interested in recording here? Contact us.

More of a private recording studio, but the tracking room is legendary. You’ve heard it before, but you don’t realize it. Interested in recording here? Contact us.

If you know of a recording studio that I left out that you think I should include, by all means let me know. There are quite a few others, but I’ve only listed the ones I’ve had experience with. You can email me ( rob [at] mixmymusic [dot] net ) or hit me up via the Ask A Question page.
