If You’ve Read This Far, I Haven’t Written Much
Well, I’ve been threatening myself and the rest of the world with a blog for months now. Will anybody read it? Will I keep up with it? Will it be horribly boring? We shall see.
That being said, some of my closer friends know I’m a fan of Abraham Lincoln. Yes, I said it – Abraham Lincoln. He kicked ass.
I’m currently reading a book called “Lincoln’s Melancholy” which I find to be fascinating. In the book they’ve quote some text from a newspaper that was being published while Lincoln was in his twenties. Specifically, it’s a piece titled “How To Succeed”.
“Push along. Push hard. Push earnestly… You can’t do without it. The world is so made – society is so constructed that it’s a law of necessity that you must push. That is if you would be something and somebody.
Who succeeds? Who makes money, honor, and reputation? He who heartily, sincerely, manfully pushed and he only. Be what you may at the top or bottom of the scale, you’ve got to push in it to command success. It’s so with every man. Do you point to what is called the man of genius? And you think he doesn’t push? Why, he’s your companion pusher – he pushes all the time. It’s the very philosophy of his height and power…
If things look dark, push harder. – Sunshine and blue sky are just beyond. If you are entangled, push – if your heart grows feeble, push, push. You’ll come out glorious, never fear. You are on the right track, and working with the right materials. S0 push along, keep pushing. ”
Maybe that text will motivate me to keep up with this thing. :)

Come to your own conclusion…
