George Massenburg’s Mixing Room

Blackbird Studios Room C - George's Mix Room

The walls are made out of 90 TONS of MDF. The room contains hundreds of thousands of squarish “tines” that just out from the walls, varying in length from 6 to 40 inches – and no two of them are the same length.

Some consider it a triumph in studio design, others think it a large torture chamber. All I know is that it gives me a headache.

It isn’t the typical studio that I’ve ever seen. Very creative.

I worked at studios in Los Angeles.
