I caught an interview on TV the other day between Chuck D (Public Enemy) and Qunicy Jones. Chuck D was the interviewer and Quincy Jones was the interviewee. Talk about wisdom, Quincy Jones know his stuff.

One of the pearls he dropped caught my interest enough to remember it several days later, and I thought I’d impart it on you. To put it in context he was talking about living life in the trenches, trying to make something of himself and surviving. To be fair, he did mention that this may have come from Ray Charles. This was something they often repeated to themselves:

“Not one drop of my self-worth depends on your acceptance of me.” -Quincy Jones
